Another September opportunity; I’m running a workshop on public voice in the personal essay across at the NSW Writers’ Centre on September 15. The workshop is, in part, inspired by hearing Patricia Hampl talk about the public life of the personal voice in an iTuneU lecture posted by Bread Loaf Writers’ Conference (the lecture was delivered in August 2012). The workshop looks at how an essay might retain experimental or personal aspects, but still speak to a public sphere of literature and politics. In the workshop we will model future essays and focus in on sticking points in our current projects. You can find out more about it across at the NSW Writers’ Centre website.
